Spartans Prepare For Buckeyes - With Zero Dilemma

Michigan State (6-3, 4-2) is surging towards a huge game against the Buckeyes (8-1, 5-1) at Spartan Stadium this coming Saturday. Despite what The Circus wants to say, there isn’t any dilemma at hand in East Lansing.

Sometimes I read the Twitters.

There are some smart and funny Twitters on the Twitter from time to time.

Especially from that one guy who is a member of The Circus who sends out those funny and clever insults with brilliant pieces of game analysis – that guy is a “must follow.”

Someone told me he’s being considered for an award.

This morning I came across a Twitter that is being passed around by The Circus that has a funny drawing with a man’s face and a “dilemma” type of thing going on in the drawing.

The Circus folks are chuckling on about how they believe that Michigan State folks are flummoxed right now because, apparently, a Spartan victory over Ohio State this coming Saturday at Spartan Stadium would “help” The Circus.

I’ll try to help The Circus since all members right now are apoplectic and foaming at the mouth and unable to find their glasses and not sure where they left their car keys since their team is inching its way to being relevant after a long, long, long period of napping while everyone else followed along as life on earth continued to evolve and progress.

You guys really have to stick to the script that has worked (or, at least, has been followed) for the last 150 years.

You need to just continue to pretend like Michigan State doesn’t matter to you.

When you do and say stuff like have temper tantrums and whine and yell and stomp feet and scuff up logos for reasons that are, apparently, reasonable and send around Twitters about how Michigan State might want to lose to Ohio State because beating Ohio State would “help” you, all of that strays from the age-old script and you merely become just another fan base without anything that sets you apart.

The arrogance thing, the “above it all” thing, the insistence that rivalries aren’t possible with schools that don’t sell as many sweatshirts as you guys do – that’s your thing.

That’s your modus operandi and it’s worked for a century and a half.

The foaming at the mouth, the singing on the Spartan Stadium field, the head coach’s weeping in the Spartan Stadium locker room, the dancing, the running around like children who don’t know what to do after having opened up the present they were dying to get on Christmas, the coach’s crying, the way the head coach wept, the continued commentaries from Foghorn Leghorn about “little brother” and his reported refusal to send royalties to Mike Hart, the way the head coach wept, the videos, the weeping, the crying, that PR guy sending out Twitters that “threw shade,” the Twitters about everything, the weeping by the coach – all of that was fine and actually sort of endearing in the immediate aftermath of the victory that you all celebrated (and continue to celebrate) in ways that suggest you viewed the game as being important.

But now you’re sending Twitters (I think it originated from that one smart guy who sends out those funny, clever, denigrating, and hilarious Twitters – you know the guy I’m talking about – I think he has one of the Michigan logos as his avatar and he’s funny and smart and a lot of people follow him because he’s important) saying that Michigan State is confused over the “dilemma” before the Spartans since a victory over Ohio State would “help” Michigan.

Just go back to the arrogance thing, guys.

You’re starting to stumble over yourselves since this whole entire thing is so foreign to you all and you’ve been out of the game since before the Twitter machine was even invented by Al Gore.

The only thing all of this babbling by you guys does is make all of us laugh at what has become, um, an obsession you appear to have developed with the team that’s dominated you for more than a decade now.

As we’ve noted many times here, Michigan won the football game against Michigan State in impressive fashion.

Once again, we extend sincere congratulations to everyone associated with the win – especially that one Twitter guy who Twitters out those funny and smart jabs and quips that are hilarious to his many followers and then they all re-Twitter it because it’s all funny and awesome.

But, just try to get a hold of yourselves as you get closer to things.

Take deep breaths.

There are still games to be played and your team has to be focused on the tasks at hand.

The t-shirts commemorating the Reconciliation Tour have been cute and fun and Foghorn Leghorn will definitely get his own reality tv show out of all of this and that’ll be a lot of fun.

But just stick to the things that matter for you.

Otherwise, if the team experiences some shortcomings in the next few weeks, things will be unpleasant for all members of The Circus.

Now….

It should go without saying that Spartans everywhere want Michigan State to, um, win games that Michigan State plays.

Michigan State fans can certainly be quirky and unreasonable and even irrational at times.

But suggesting that Spartans will be pulling for a loss against Ohio State since that would “help” The Circus is a lot like suggesting that Sonny Corleone actually wanted Sollozzo to kill Michael at the dinner at Louis’ in the Bronx because then Sonny wouldn’t have had any rational Corleones around while Pop recuperated and Sonny would then be able to attack Tattaglia and Barzini without any internal resistance.

Circus members – get a grip.

Michigan State fans want to beat Ohio State just as badly as Michael wanted to blow Sollozzo and McCluskey away at the table there.

Michael wasn’t even thinking about Barzini when he blew those two away after he grabbed the gun that Clemenza left for him in the bathroom.

Circus – go back to having fun with your Retaliation Tour and stay focused.

If you get caught up in the ancillaries, you’ll accidentally trip up and, the next thing you know, you’ll be listening to Tesio saying, “It was just business, Michael.”
