Matt Coghlin was 2 for 2 on Saturday night, his second straight night of perfection for the Spartans.
If you’re looking for bright spots in the aftermath of Michigan State’s disappointing 16-13 loss to Arizona State Saturday night, there are plenty – you just need to poke around a bit.
How about this dude?
After a perfect season opening performance when he converted on all three of his attempts against Utah State, Michigan State’s sophomore field goal specialist Matt Coghin had another perfect night against Arizona State.
Coghlin provided no-doubters from 37 yards and 28 yards and continues to bail out the Spartan offense that can’t seem to find that next necessary gear to pound the ball in while inside of the red zone.
Coghlin didn’t just nail his kicks – he had his old man fly the Spartans out to the ball game.
And after Coghlin piles up more game-winners that lead to moments that look like they’re pulled from a Disney movie like this one…
….it sounds like he’s gonna become a chip off the old block and fly airplanes like his dad –
Have you ever taken a look at Matt Coghlin’s team photo?
Here it is –
That’s not a photo of my buddy Jack Doyle’s son, Seamus – that’s Matt Coghlin keeping things real.
The dude is an assassin.
I’ve alluded to this before and I’ll continue to because it’s simple truth telling-
If Matt Coghlin thinks he’s gonna slide into PT O’Malley’s for a few this coming Wednesday night, he’s wrong since he has more of a chance of being selected out of the crowd to throw the ball at Father Dominici in the dunk tank at next year’s St. Bernadine Parish Labor Day Block Party.
I don’t care if he can’t buy himself a Slurpee at 7/11 without being questioned by the cashier if he continues to drill kicks like he’s been drilling them.
And in order to just get this out of the way – we know he’s eventually going to miss one – this article that you’re reading isn’t going to jinx Matt Coghlin.
Coghlin knows that we’ve been saying since this past Summer that he’s going to be money all season – we said it here –
He’s well on his way to proving us right.
Keep cranking, Coghlin.
