We’re bullish in LJ Scott.

After three years of promise and some underrated success – which has come with a few moments he would love to have back – LJ Scott is ready to explode.

Despite losing anchorman Brian Allen, the Spartan offensive line has experience, depth, strength, versatility, and athleticism.

That line didn’t necessarily dominate last season – the unit paved the way for a YPG rushing average of 167.8 which was only good for seventh in the Big Ten and 62nd in the nation.

However, if we take a look at some of the specifics of last season’s o-line, there is reason to believe that the unit can and will create space for LJ Scott to have his best season as a Spartan.

Against UMAA’s much-ballyhooed brick wall, the Spartans asserted themselves enough to gain 158 yards on the ground.  And LJ didn’t even play in that game.

And, in Michigan State’s final three games, the Spartans ground attack went for 271 yards against Maryland, 209 yards against Rutgers, and 227 yards in the bowl win over Washington State.

Granted, those final three performances didn’t come against the Pittsburgh’s Steel Curtain – but the offensive line is going to be just fine this season.

And, LJ Scott is going to be more than fine.

The senior-to-be showed some surprising Spartan Pride moments after the Holiday Bowl win by announcing he’d be back for a final season despite lots of talk about heading to the NFL.

LJ Scott has all of the tools to be an absolute monster the football.

We’ve seen the guy plow over, around, and past defenses when the lights are shining brightly.

And it says here at SpartansWire that the case of the drops LJ had a bit of last year will be as gone as Art Schlichter’s pocket money this season.

LJ has something to prove this year.

And he’s going to prove it to his teammates, his coaches, the Spartan fans, the NFL scouts, and, most importantly, himself.

Look for LJ Scott to rush for more than 1500 yards this season.

He’ll pile up a barrel of touchdowns to go along with the yards.

And when CollegeFootballNews does its end-of-year ranking of the nation’s running backs, LJ will be firmly in the Top 10…
