@MSU_Football keeps cranking along with the 100-day countdown to kickoff with a terrific way of pointing out just how successful Michigan State has been in its appearances in the Rose Bowl.

How about winning 80% of the times the Spartans have played in Pasadena in The Grandaddy of Them All?

I once got an 80% on a Social Studies test in Mrs. Brockmeyer’s class in 7th Grade and I thought I deserved to be knighted.

I recall a time when I made 80% of the free throws I attempted in the Pop-A-Shot at Sluggers on Clark just a blow north of Wrigley Field after a full day in the bleachers and I thought I should get free beer for the rest of the night.

I remember when a good friend told me that my stories that I tell in taverns are believed by the people being told the stories almost 80% of the time.

I once made a bet with my good pal Hans Muentsch that at least 80% of the plots on Three’s Company revolved around a simple misunderstanding.

Four out of five dentists recommend using Gleem toothpaste if you’re looking for a slightly off-white smile.

Winning four out of five of the biggest games a football program can appear in?

Being able to point to having won 80% of the Rose Bowls Michigan State has appeared in is really just another example of how the Spartans have a far more successful history than any of the experts out there think.

In chronological order, Biggie Munn, Duffy Daugherty, George Perles, and Mark Dantonio have all gotten it done for the Green & White in Pasadena.

If Ohio State wants to quibble with the amount of appearances, I’ll listen to the Buckeyes from that perspective since they’ve earned our respect in the era of indoor plumbing.

But for anyone else that wants to throw some darts at this, those folks need to stop and ask themselves if they’ve gotten a sniff of a Big Ten Championship since the time when the Kardashians were still a simple, unknown family of regular Americans in search of a dream.
