90 Days Until Kickoff - Devin Thomas, Beast

In 2007, Devin Thomas exploded.  The numbers speak for themselves.

Devin Thomas was a Spartan for two full seasons.

The truth, however, is that this beast left a legacy of greatness thanks to the new coach that took over for his final season in Green & White.

Let’s take a simple look at the simple statistics from each season and see how they compare:

2006, John L Smith Head Coach

Games Played: 10

Receptions: 6

Yards Receiving: 90

Long: 38 yards

Touchdowns: 1

Rushes: 0

Kick Returns: 0

2007, Mark Dantonio Head Coach

Games Played: 13

Receptions: 79

Yards Receiving: 1,260

Long: 80

Touchdowns: 8

Rushes: 27

Yards: 177

Kick Returns: 39

Kick Return Yards: 1135

When Mark Dantonio arrived in East Lansing, it seems as if he took a look at Devin Thomas and something along the lines of, “Who in the hell is that guy and why haven’t I seen any of him on the hours of film from last year that I’ve already watched?”

Devin Thomas not only had a sensational season in 2007, he wound up playing in the NFL for six seasons and has a Super Bowl Championship ring somewhere in his house.

Spartan beast.

@MSU_Football found a clever way to get Thomas into its 100-day countdown to kickoff – but we don’t really need to find any clever ways to showcase the greatness that was Devin Thomas in 2007.
