Bruins’ big man makes lots of people proud – but has anyone considered this?

UCLA has its hands full with St. Bonaventure in tonight’s First Four matchup at the University of Dayton Arena.

Where I live, people are always anxious (I mean, they’re really, really, really anxious – like, totally and really anxious) to point out that UCLA’s Thomas Welsh is a Loyola High School (of Los Angeles) graduate.

I have no doubt that Thomas Welsh is a fine young man.

I have no doubt that Thomas Welsh comes from a wonderful family.

Thomas Welsh might one day be a really good player in his Over 40 Men’s Basketball Church League .

But give me Indiana University’s Uwe Blab from 1984 seven days a week and twice on Sundays over Thomas Welsh.

Thomas Welsh – who is, by the way, a Loyola High School (of Los Angeles) graduate – is battling out there tonight and might just help the Bruins fight their way through this St. Bonaventure squad.
