It’s somewhat bittersweet here – my GAME PREVIEW noted that a Spartan loss in this ball game would call for me to take the sick children to see “Some Billboard Near That Place.”

I’ve heard such great things about the film that a small part of me was hoping I’d get to take the sick children so I could see for myself what all of the hubbub was about with respect to this motion picture.

Oh, well.

With a fair amount of issues swirling around the Michigan State basketball program, Tom Izzo led his gang to yet another Big Ten Championship – his third outright Big Ten Championship in his 23 years as head coach.

At one point in Sunday’s game in Madison, that one guy for Wisconsin who was wearing that thing on his shoulder and who was really good at tackling players (his own teammates as well as Spartans) made some shots and it looked like Wisconsin might do something worth remembering this season.

But Cassius Winston made sure that the Badgers’ appropriate return to the Steve Yoder Era continued.

Memo to Michigan State Interim Athletic Director, Bill Beekman – apply the same swift skill you demonstrated in clearing Bridges for game play to………..everything else that matters a lot more than whether or not the star player can suit up.

Congratulations to Tom Izzo.

With everything surrounding Izzo, he’s shown remarkable focus and skill in leading this team on the court.

He’s earned this championship and, years from now, he’ll treasure it just as much as the others.

But…..even Izzo will tell us – winning the Big Ten Championship was A goal this season, not THE goal….

All of this having been said, if we’ve learned one, important lesson as Spartans over the last couple of months, it’s that we must be aware of the many different things from which we can and will have wisdom bestowed upon us.  The “Six Billboards By Mississippi” movie has changed the world and we owe a debt of gratitude to its makers –
