I don’t follow the logic – probably because I can’t keep up with Dan’s intellect…

Dan Dakich Has Unusual View on Miles Bridges as a College Basketball Player

I know I’m a bit tardy to this party but I’m going to weigh in.

Dan Dakich says that Miles Bridges “has no game.”

Okay.

Dan famously played for Bob Knight back when “Eight Is Enough” was a highly rated television program.

Dan’s career statistics as a college basketball player look like this:

Games Played – 98.

Average points scored per game – 3.6

Average rebounds collected per game – 1.5

Average assists distributed per game – 2.0

Percentage of free throws converted – 66.

Percentage of field goals converted – 51.

That’s not a bad stat line for Dan.

And, we know, we know, we know – Dan defended Michael Jordan and held him to something like 26 points in a Sweet Sixteen game that was broadcast right after CBS’s prime time broadcast of Trapper John, M.D.

Of course,  he now talks on the radio and provides insight and analysis during college basketball games that are broadcast on television.

He’s smart.

Dan does not like it when Joe Lunardi uses statistics to point out that the Big Ten is not performing particularly well this season.

Dan gets twitchy when Joe Lunardi says that the Big Ten isn’t “great” at basketball this season.

But I digress.

It’s Dan’s position on Miles Bridges that provides intrigue.

I know – much has been made of this and we’re being encouraged that it’s all cool and Dan actually loves Miles Bridges and that they’re pals.

Good.

However, I live in a world where words matter.

I know that this world that I live in is a world of the past – but I choose to continue living in that world.

If I were to say, for instance, that I think that Matt Damon is a humongous idiot with an astonishing lack of self awareness, I would not bristle if people sort of assumed that I didn’t think highly of Matt Damon’s overall vibe and that I think he lacks self awareness.

If I were to say those things about Matt Damon, I wouldn’t spend the next five weeks blabbering on about how Matt Damon and I are great friends and that I love Matt Damon and that I think Matt Damon is a terrific and smart guy with a very acute sense of self.

If fans of Matt Damon were to offer their thoughts on how and why I might be off base with my perspectives relative to Matt Damon’s ethos and self awareness, I wouldn’t blabber on and on about how Matt Damon’s fans really don’t know me and how much I actually really love Matt Damon even though I stated, flatly, that I think he’s a humongous idiot and that he has zero sense of self awareness.

Miles Bridges, in not quite a full two seasons as a college basketball player, has a stat line that looks like this:

Games played – 57

Average points scored per game – 17.0

Average rebounds collected per game – 7.5

Average assists distributed per game – 2.4

Percentage of free throws converted – 79.

Percentage of field goals converted – 48

I did not play college basketball.

I did play CYO basketball for Sacred Heart Parish, though.

I can’t access the parish data base that houses the year-by-year stats of the CYO teams dating back to the inaugural season in 1934 but I’m confident that my stat line is a very strong one.

I will admit – my stat line probably doesn’t sync up with Miles Bridges’s stat line as a basketball player for Michigan State.

But, when I stop and really think about what Dan Dakich is trying to say about Miles Bridges, I can see what he’s saying.

Bridges has zero game.

None.

Keep bringing it, Dan.

Dan – some other topics we need your wisdom on:

Climate Change.

Russian Meddling.

Halitosis – real or a myth created by the mouthwash makers?

Sharkbowl at The Landshark – how many people gathered around the bowl is too many?

Olin Health Center – is it okay to refer to any of the health professionals as “Doctor?”

Flat, Black, and Circular – was it or was it not a money laundering front for the mob?
