Some things that have been on my mind.

Jake Hartbarger

I, like any other football fan, like it when my team achieves a first down. We keep the chains moving, while driving down the field for a score. First down – good. Not achieving a first down and being forced to punt the football away – bad. I don’t like having to punt anymore than the next person. But it happens.
Jake Hartbarger creates an admittedly strange conundrum for me. Punting is not “good”, as we have covered. But I like watching Hartbarger practice his craft. I don’t know. I’m glad he’s really good at it, for those times that State doesn’t get a first down.

Jim

If we ask nicely, do you think the folks down in Ann Arbor can make a re-boot of this?

loo-vuul

A few years ago I had the privilege of visiting Louisville, Kentucky. A lovely town, with some very nice people. While dining with some locals, they continually pointed out and made fun of the way that I was saying “Louisville”. I was going with “Loo-E-Vil” like most American people. They insisted that it was supposed to be something more like “loo-vuul”. The only way I could imitate their pronunciation was with a mouth full of unbuttered bread. loo-vuul.
Anyways, there have been a few things in the news lately about Louisville vacating their 2013 National Basketball Championship due to all kinds of shady things going on in and around their program. So I got to thinking about Rick Pitino’s back tattoo that he got after the championship victory. I’m guessing that the same shop he goes to for Botox can probably help him with that.

Sammy

In a past life, I spent quite a bit of time in the right field bleachers of Wrigley Field watching my favorite player at the time Sammy Sosa. I loved Sammy. I loved his joyousness, his interaction with us bleacher bums, his hustle, and his general passion for the game. Seems like retirement has brought him a new passion. Dress up. I still love you Sammy.
